2006
Let me see, an update is what you want, huh? okay. Kate's sister Peggy died. I sent my condolences to the family of course. I've also joined the committee restoring the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. I'm co-chairing it with Cynthia,Judy Samuelson, Elaine Staplins, Anthony Harvey, Kat Kramer, and of course, Kathy herself. Marvelous group. There has been many discussions about all of this. But I can't get into it... More recently, I appeared at the 78th Annual Academy Awards Show.March 5th. Poor Sophie wasn't with me. I've heard the oscar incident crap. I really don't care. Hoestly, I don't-I shouldn't. So, if that's what you all wanted to hear, you got it. Betty Current Mood: busy | | Sunday, January 22nd, 2006 | | 3:26 pm |
Wow...it's been forever since I've updated.....now, here's what I've been up to: I've been attending premires....first, Absurd Person Singular with Sidsel, Steve's wife. Then, Merchant Ivory's The White Countess. And last, Disney Live! Winnie The Pooh. I also appeared on A& E's Breakfast with the Arts. Other than that, not much is happening. Bogie's been gone for 49 years now, wow. I talked to Steve and Leslie then. Other than that, not much. I should call Nic and see what she's up to.......

I'm surprised I'm finding time to do this tonight.... First, Sid Luft is dead, and it's my eighty-first birthday. God I'm old. Sid was only eight years older than I.....would I be next? Let's hope not. Second,I've been out and about this week, Monday I was at the Toronto International Film Festival. Third, Nic was named Richest Young Australian, The Workaholic AND Best dressed according to People magazine. We need to do lunch, Nic. Soon. Call me! Ah....England. Notely......Vivling's just been marvelous. Larry's just good for Bogie, I think. We went to dinner last night-just the four of us. It was a grand evening, wasn't it, Viv? Called Mother today, all is well with Steve. Being away from him is harder than I thought it would be.... Current Mood: cheerful | | Tuesday, August 16th, 2005 | | 6:27 pm |
Wow...
it's been a busy couple of weeks. I just arrived at Viv's today, and it's a madhouse. I called Mother when we arrived, Steve is well. Alls well, I'm in England until Labor Day. Current Mood: calm | | Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005 | | 10:13 pm |
August '51
Well, I left Steve with Mother starting tonight. Bogie and I leave for Vivling and Larry's in a little over a week, and I have tons of things to do-packing, cleaning out the refridorator, packing Bogie, cleaning house, the list seems endless. Of course, I'll be over to Mother's almost every day, to see my Steve, until Bogie and I leave. This way, it gives Bogie and I a chance to be alone before we go to Viv's. Almost like a second honeymoon, only with him asleep in his chair, go figure. See you soon, Vivling! Betty Current Mood: busy | | Tuesday, June 28th, 2005 | | 10:46 pm |
Betty's summer plans...1951
Bogie and Katie's movie came out in Feb, a success I guess you could say...I did the wife and mother thing this year for Bogie and Steve. Steve is now two and a half. Bogie and I "discussed" having another child for Steve's sake, so he isn't alone when Bogie and I pass away. We shall see. We had Katie and Spence over again the other day. Katie is Steve's godmother....Bogie and talked about going to London in August for Vivling and Larry's anniversary, but we're not sure yet. I'd leave Steve with Mother for a week or so, and we'd go. Vivling, I'll call if we decide to come! Current Mood: contemplative | | Sunday, June 12th, 2005 | | 7:53 pm |
1950's
Okay, so Bogie and I invited Katie and Spence over for dinner a couple of weeks ago...of COURSE Katie bursts through the door blaming Spence for their lateness. Ha! I know better than that, Hepburn! Of course, Katie HAD to go check out the pool, and when she got out, Spence of course imediately picked her up and tossed her back in! Current Mood: chipper | | Thursday, May 12th, 2005 | | 1:16 pm |

Movie sets, scripts and visits from and to the kids. Other than that, I've been relaxing. I'm still figuring this whole email and blogging thing out yet. I'll be on more probably this summer, I'll have the kids to show me this thing..... Betty Current Mood: calm | | Tuesday, March 22nd, 2005 | | 7:18 pm |
March 22,2005 Okay, so I've been away for a few days. I spoke to Nic yesterday, she's had food poising recently and has been ill so that's why I didn't hear from her on my invite to have Connor and Isabella join me this past weekend. It was just Jasper and me anyway, so it wouldn't have been any fun for them. The poor thing. Maybe next weekend. I went to the Rodeo Drive Walk Of Style Awards on Sunday, and met up with Anjelica Huston. We had a marvelous time together.
( Here's a pic from that.... )

My Name is Betty Joan Perske. People in Hollywood know me as Lauren Bacall. I was born on September 16,1924 the daughter of a salesman and a secretary. They divorced when I was five. I went to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts after high school. Then I tried modeling. The Howard Hawks saw me on a cover of Harper's Bazaar one day Then adsked me to come in for a screen test for To Have and To have not. This movie also starred the man who was later to become my husband and father to two of my three children, Humprey Bogart when I was only 19. After two children-Stephen and Leslie, Bogie died on January 14,1957. After only a few years, I met and married Jason Robards. We had one son together, Sam in 1961. He had three children of his own from a previous marriage-Jason, Jady and Sarah. After eight lovely years, Jason and I divorced. I haven't been married since and I'm happy aout that. Betty. I've been so busy lately. Between movie sets, seeing the kids, and the holidays, and helping Cate Blanchett with the role of Katie in The Aviator, which I saw before Christmas. Other than that, not much. Thanks for getting me in on this Nic. Betty. |
